#NekNomination

There's a new drinking game sweeping the globe via internet recently. Ever heard of NekNominate? Yup, that's the one.

Thought to have originated in Australia, neknominate involves a person filming them-self downing large quantities of alcohol in a short amount of time and then nominating a friend to outdo you for each beverage consumed. This is then posted on various social media outlets such as Twitter, YouTube, and/or Facebook. The nominated friends must then post a video of him or herself on one of these sites doing a neknomination within 24 hours of being called out.

However, as of late, five men under the age of 30 have already died from lethal combinations of alcohol and the over consumption of said beverages in a short time span. Health professionals are the world are now warning people, especially college students, about the risks associated with this dangerous type of binge drinking.

Videos posted around the web have shown that there really is no limit as to what type of drinks can be consumed. With each nomination, the cocktails seem to become even more dangerous and crazy. Some students have even gone so far as to mixing alcohol with a dead rodent, drinking it out of a working toilet, or even adding dog food and motor oil to the concoction.

So I know you're all wondering, what happens if you don't follow through when you get nominated? NOTHING. Except that you don't run the risk of death by alcohol poisoning. Okay sure, you may get a little roughed up and ridiculed by your friends but is that really worth the possible consequences associated with actually participating in this outlandish event? Nah.

Lawmakers are now pushing for schools to take on a bigger role in advocating against such outrageous games and binge drinking behaviors.
