Thanks for checking out this page! "The Standard Drink" is a blog out of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Center for Alcohol Studies and Education Office. We, the peer educators, are here to post about hot topics in today's culture as well as ask for feedback and answer any questions anyone may have!
Here's a little background info on UWEC and the CASE office just to get you started...
- UWEC is located in Eau Claire, WI-- West-Central Wisconsin...65,000 people
- 10,383 undergraduate students were enrolled as of 2013
- There are 270 student organizations
- The average class size is 27 students
- 22 NCAA Division III sports teams
- Campus has 28 major buildings across 333 acres of land
- UWEC is known as "Wisconsin's Most Beautiful Campus" and has consistently been highly ranked in a variety of national polls and surveys
The CASE office was created in 2005 and was designed to support/implement strategies and programs to reduce high-risk drinking and alcohol's negative consequences within the UWEC student population. The office is based out of the Student Affairs division and includes full-time and student staff employees.
CASE has numerous campaigns, programs, outreach events, and educational opportunities geared towards UWEC college students. The goal is to provide students with relevant and accurate information regarding binge drinking and the negative consequences associated.
Mission Statement: To support and implement strategies and programs to reduce high-risk drinking and its negative consequences among UW-Eau Claire students.
One of us will be posting once a week (usually on a Wednesday) discussing some topic related to alcohol! We may even through in some other fun stuff every once in a while to get it fresh, hip, and exciting!
